🔖 A quiet note after Christmas, before we rush ahead

Hi Reader, how are you, now that Christmas has passed?

I mean after the full tables, the long meals, the conversations that lingered longer than your nervous system wanted them to, or maybe after the quiet of being by yourself when everyone else seemed busy being together. Maybe you had little ones whose routines were completely thrown off, too much noise, too many arms, too many expectations. Maybe you have teenagers who tolerated the gatherings but didn’t quite belong in them. Or maybe you have no kids at all, no partner, and these days felt less festive and more heavy, like a reminder of things that aren’t there. However it looked for you, this stretch of days has a way of touching places we don’t always name.

❄️

I meant to write before Christmas. I really did. I had it in my head how this would land, how the timing would work, how the words would arrive. Instead, last week passed quietly, and here we are, after Christmas, in that strange pocket between what was and what’s supposed to come next. And honestly, it feels more truthful to meet you here, not where I thought I should be, but where life actually placed me.

This past year of writing Heart-to-Heart Conversations has felt exactly like sitting at a kitchen table with someone you trust, no agenda, no fixing, no performance. Just talking. Just telling the truth as it shows up. And I want to pause here and say this clearly: thank you for being here. For reading. For staying even when I went quiet. For coming back. For every reply, every message, every “this helped me name something.” Truth be told, that’s what made me keep going, especially in a year that asked more from me than I knew how to prepare for.

✨

I often think about the version of me who began this year. She had plans, yes, but more than that, she had assumptions. About how growth works. About how things unfold when you “do the right work.” About how flexible you can be and still stay aligned. And what I’ve learned, again, is that even when you think you’ve outgrown rigidity, even when you believe you’re listening to yourself, there are still moments when planning comes more from the mind than from the body. From what you think you should want, not from what actually feels true.

I’ve been noticing that tension in myself lately. The subtle feeling that sometimes I plan not because my heart is calling me forward, but because my mind wants coherence. Wants reassurance. Wants to believe it knows where things are going. And life, once again, has gently shown me that it rarely unfolds in the ways I imagine, but almost always in the ways I need.

Not comfortably. Not predictably. But meaningfully, if I’m willing to observe instead of resist.

🌲

As I’m writing this, I’m also standing at the edge of another very real transition. Our daughter is about to be born, and I genuinely don’t know yet what the rhythm of a family of four will feel like. I don’t know how my days will rearrange themselves. I don’t know how my energy will shift. So this is a goodbye for now.

But not a dramatic goodbye. Not even a promise of absence or presence.

Just an honest pause.

I’ll write again when it feels true to do so, whether that’s weeks from now or months from now, and I trust that this space, like everything else, will find its own shape.

Looking ahead to the next year, I notice the familiar pressure in the air. The one that says it’s time to set goals, define directions, map actions. And I’m not against that. But I’m holding it differently now. With more curiosity than certainty. With more listening than deciding. Because after a year like this, I know that my path rarely looks the way I expect it to, and that doesn’t mean I’ve betrayed myself. It often means I’ve been asked to grow in ways my mind couldn’t predict.

✨

So if you find yourself right now wanting answers, wanting clarity, wanting to know how next year will go, maybe this is a gentle invitation to pause instead. To breathe. To notice what this year has already taught you, not in headlines or achievements, but in how you’ve changed on the inside. Sometimes that’s the most honest place to begin.

I’ll leave you with the questions I’m sitting with, without rushing them, without trying to solve them too quickly:

  • What part of my planning comes from fear rather than truth?
  • And what might change if I allowed myself to listen a little longer before deciding what’s next?

🤍

Thank you for being here, truly. For reading alongside me. For holding space for these conversations. If something in these words stirred something in you, you’re welcome to write back. I read every message. And if all you offer is a quiet recognition from afar, that’s enough too.

Take care of yourself in these days between years. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is slow down enough to hear what’s been waiting for us all along.

No five-step formulas for fixing your life. I haven't found one that works for mine either. Pull up a chair. There's always room for one more at the table.

If yes, lucky you! I’m genuinely happy for you and slightly jealous at the same time! 😅 And if they’re nearby, please take them out for a coffee ASAP. (I promise today’s newsletter will explain this rather unusual opening of mine.) So, how are you? How’s your week been so far? Mine has been quite something, especially when it comes to calls and conversations. I’ve had quite a few conversations this week that, although they started in completely different places, somehow ended up touching on...

Hey Reader, It’s been a while since I wrote here, and apparently I’ve decided to make my comeback by deleting half of my social media presence. 😅 Instagram is officially gone. Facebook is next, as soon as it finishes giving me back the digital suitcase containing years of photos, posts and whatever else I left scattered there. And it feels (soooo) good 😌 Not dramatic-good. Not new-life-new-me-burn-everything-and-move-to-Bali good. More like finally clearing a cupboard you’ve been avoiding for...

Hey friend, How are you? I hope life has been kind since we last spoke, or at least manageable, which is sometimes the more honest thing to wish for. I’ve been thinking about villages lately. Not the romantic kind. The real kind. The one you actually need when a child is sick and you’re running on three hours of sleep and your closest people are four countries away. This one took me a while to write. I hope it finds you at a good moment. ✨ There’s a specific kind of loneliness that doesn’t...
